Jastrebski
February 5, 1941 – September 1, 2021
John P. Jastrebski, 80, formerly of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away Wednesday at Upstate University Hospital, Syracuse. John was a graduate of Samuel Gompers High School in the Bronx. He attended Dutchess Community College where he received his certification for Facilities Maintenance Technician. He was active in the St. Joseph's Polish-American Church in Poughkeepsie, NY and a member of the Masonic Lodge and Polish-American Citizens Club in Dutchess County.
Throughout his life John worked various civil service jobs for New York State which included, the U.S. Postal Service, Department of Sanitation and the Department of Corrections. John was a generous man who lived frugally so that he could help others. He was known to donate to families in need, some that he didn't even know, because he wanted to offer assistance and hope. As a cancer survivor, he reached out to others facing cancer with gifts, prayers and financial support. John was deeply devoted to his family, always offering his love and support to them.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Terri & Vince Cook, of Jamesville, NY; his son, John J. Jastrebski of Poughkeepsie, NY and three grandchildren, William and Andrew Cook and Michael Truden.
Funeral services will be held at a future date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Maurer Funeral Home, Liverpool, NY.
