John W. Rogers, 88, of Baldwinsville, passed away peacefully with family at his side on September 2, 2023 after a long illness.

He was born in Schenectady, New York, to John "Rock" and Francis "Peggy" Rogers. John was raised in Au Sable Forks during an era when the J&J Rogers Paper Mill was the region's primary employer. A graduate of Westminster School, he attended Union College and graduated from Clarkson College of Technology. John worked at the family paper mill and as a surveyor in Burlington, VT. He then worked for Sealright Company for many years. In his spare time, he volunteered for a number of charitable causes and was active with the Jaycees, Rotary and Baldwinsville Theatre Guild.

One of the founding members of Beaver Meadows Golf Club in Phoenix, John was happiest playing golf or spending time with his extended family on Silver Lake in Au Sable Forks, NY.

Throughout his life, particularly during his years of declining health, John displayed an incredibly positive attitude and strong spirit to fight.  Never complaining, he brought joy to the caregivers, physicians, and other patients.  The family would like to thank the staffs of Hematology-Oncology Associates of CNY, St. Joseph's Hospital and Francis House for providing him with compassionate care and comfort.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Phyllis; children John (Cynthia) Rogers, Anne (James) Buttolph, William Rogers, and Thomas (Sheila) Rogers; sisters Ada Kraft and Elisabeth Philo; and his grandchildren, Jillian and Benjamin Rogers; Michael, Andrew and Stephen Buttolph; Nicholas Rogers; and Kyle and Kelly Rogers.

A memorial service in celebration of John's life will be held Saturday, October 7th, at 11:00 a.m. in Grace Episcopal Church.
