January 17, 1934 – December 12, 2023
John "Jack" Shannon Socia, 89, of Baldwinsville, NY passed away on Tuesday at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. He was born in Syracuse, NY, son of the late Clarence and Lucille (Leamy) Socia. Jack grew up in Syracuse graduating from Most Holy Rosary School. He continued his studies at Niagara University before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. Jack was the owner of Auto Finishers Supply Company. In October of 1986, he was united in marriage to the former Candice McFarlane. A good and simple man who lived his faith and loved his family, Jack was a friend to anyone who reached out. He was an "Old Timer" in AA and helped countless others through the years. And just like his blood type, his motto was BE POSITIVE. Jack was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 48 years. He enjoyed being outside in the sun, walking, hunting in Bear Swamp or swimming in Skaneateles Lake. Jack has been a resident of Baldwinsville, NY for the past 36 years. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by two sisters, Cherie Kalet and Dawn Lawton.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 37 years, Candice Socia, his children; Larry (Ellen) Socia, Alex (Shelly) Socia, Jacqueline Socia, Vincent (Rosa) Socia, Stephan Socia, Kitty (Don) Tracy, Emily (Jim) Keefe, Edward Socia, 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, his brother, Clarence "Bud" Socia, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 11:00 am in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 3494 State Rt. 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jack's memory can be made to Unity Acres, 2290 County Rt 2, Orwell, NY 13426.
