John T. Tenshaw, 89, of Liverpool, passed away into eternal rest on Thursday, July 20, 2023 with loved ones by his side. Born in Tresckow, PA on February 23, 1934, he was the son of John Tenshaw and Stella M. Nitka. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956 as a high-speed radio operator, and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.
After serving his country, he met the love of his life, when he and a group of friends went to a State Park. They dated for two years and became engaged while he attended Wilkes College, in Wilkes-Barre, PA. After graduating and receiving his 4-year degree, they were married on July 2, 1960.
He began his career at the Container Corporation of America, in Norristown, PA, but spent most of his working years in the Sales & Marketing Departments at Sealright Co., Inc. in Fulton, NY which is now known as Huhtamaki, Inc.
He was a smart and honest man, a remarkable role model, a hardworking employee, and an unforgettable husband, father and grandfather who touched the lives of everyone who was blessed to know him. He loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren, especially the trips they took every summer to Rehoboth Beach, DE since 1964. John enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Syracuse University basketball, football, and lacrosse teams. At a professional level, he loved watching the NY Yankees and all major golf tournaments.
John is predeceased by his parents, John and Stella, his siblings, Dolores, Robert and Leo, his wife, Patricia and his grandson, Cody.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, John (Mary) Tenshaw and their daughters, Ashley, Emily, and Abigail, Lisa Tenshaw and her sons, David and Brady, Linda (John) Ross and their daughter, Hailey Ross, and Dr. Brian (Rebecca) Tenshaw and their daughters, Lauren and Chloe, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
