Julie Ann
Taylor
May 1, 1952 – April 1, 2024
Julie Ann (Chao) Taylor, 71, passed away peacefully at home in St Petersburg, Florida after a courageous 17 year fight with metastatic breast cancer. Julie was born in 1952 in Framingham, Massachusetts to the late Aristodemo J Chao and Mary H (Chala) Chao. She moved with her family from Framingham to Westvale at junior high school age and graduated in 1970 from Westhill High School. It was at Westhill that she met Donald Taylor, the love of her life and future husband of 52 years. She also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from SUNY Oswego.
Julie loved children and worked for many years as a 5th grade teacher and substitute elementary school teacher. She also was a legal assistant for a number of local law firms and even managed an ice rink for a while. But her real passion in life was to be a great wife, mom, grandma, sister and friend. One of the things she was most proud of was her almost 20 year career as a hockey mom traveling across upstate New York at all hours of the day and night to get kids to hockey games and help out wherever she could. She also loved to read, cook, bake, sew and knit when she had spare time.
Julie resided in Radisson and Fayetteville for many years and had recently moved to St Petersburg, Florida and Seattle, Washington to spend more time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by husband Donald, sons, Brian Taylor of Seattle and Adam (Leslie) Taylor of St Petersburg, grandchildren; Samantha Taylor, Benjamin Taylor and Zachary Taylor of Seattle, sister, Mary Ellen (Ron) Vance of Scottsdale, Arizona, brothers; Chuck (Jean) Chao of Chittenango, David (Howard Schlafer) Chao of Syracuse and Chris (Vicki) Chao of Syracuse and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
