Kathleen D.
Delitta
June 27, 1943 – June 3, 2023
Kathleen (Née Doyle) "Kathie" DeLitta was born and raised in Long Island, New York. She came to central New York when she attended, then graduated from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Oswego. She chose to stay in Central New York to raise her family. She taught in The Red Creek School District and from which she retired after 34 years of teaching. Kathie always said that she couldn't think of a better way to earn a living than teaching little ones. After retiring, Kathie volunteered at Liverpool Elementary School and the American Red Cross. Kathie along with her husband, Tom worked together at the Carrier Dome. She could often be found field side as she watched Tom umpire in the community.
Kathie is predeceased by her son, James P. Decker, Jr., her parents, Alfred and Madeline Doyle, her brother, Gerald Doyle, and her brother-in-law, James Sheridan.
Kathie is survived by her husband of 27 years, Thomas J. DeLitta, Jr., her daughter, Sherri-Lynn (Stephen) Peck of North Carolina, her sister, Patricia (Robert) Bush of Florida, her brother, Robert Doyle of Long Island, two stepsons; Thomas J. (TJ) DeLitta III (wife Laura) of Northern Virginia and Anthony DeLitta (wife Orsolya) of Texas and four wonderful granddaughters; Carissa, Kaitlyn, Kaycee and Ella, as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Kathie asks that you think of her as you walk in the sun, when you bake cookies, as you watch the clouds float by, or enjoy a piece of chocolate. She asks that you Enjoy Life, Love Unconditionally, Spread Joy, and Be Kind to Others.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, Baldwinsville, NY.
If you feel moved to remember Kathie through the gift of a donation, she and Tom would suggest a gift in her name be directed to the Francis House in Syracuse where she spent her last days being cared for with dignity and compassion or to the American Cancer Society enabling continued research and funding for treatment of these devastating diseases.
Kathie and Tom thank all those who have offered the gift of friendship to them, for all those who have shared their lives and journeys with them, and for all the memories that they have shared with their friends and loved ones.
Please sign the funeral home on-line guestbook for Kathie to express your condolences to her family.
