Kathy D. Dewey, 79, of Syracuse passed away unexpectedly on May 29, 2022 while at camp for Memorial Day.
Born to the late Carl and Muriel Dake in Morristown, NY, Kathy was a graduate of Gouverneur High School (Gouverneur, NY), class of 1961.
Kathy enjoyed gardening, crafting, making wreaths and floral décor, along with watching Hallmark and western movies. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with friends, go to lunch and shopping. Above all, what Kathy cherished most, was time spent with her grandchildren and spoiling her great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Dewey; son, Duane Dewey and sister, Gloria Goodison.
Kathy will be greatly missed by her daughter, Jayne (Shawn) McCarthy of Syracuse, NY; grandchildren, Jessica (James) Swan of Pulaski, NY, Paul (Heather) Long of Clay, NY, Terry (Amber) Long of Central Square, NY and Shawn (Alexis) Dryer of North Syracuse, NY; eighteen great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service and gathering in Kathy's honor will be held Sunday, June 12, 2022 starting at 1:00 pm at the Central Square American Legion, Fuller-Taylor Post 915, 3301 Fulton Ave., Central Square, NY 13036.
