Obituary

Kenneth J. Monica, 67, of Baldwinsville, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, with his wife at his side. Born in Syracuse, NY, Ken was raised in Baldwinsville and attended Charles W. Baker High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Mortarman, proudly serving his country. On February 12, 1977, he was united in marriage to the former Patricia A. Donahue, a blessed union of 46 years. Ken enjoyed a 30-year career as a Journeyman Painter with the Painters Union Local #31, retiring in 2006. Concurrently, he had re-enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1976 to 1995. A true outdoorsman, Ken loved to fish, hunt and spend time in the garden. He competed in many local area fishing tournaments and was a member of the Bucket Mouth Bass Club. Ken and Pat also spent many vacations taking numerous cruises together. He loved classic cars, going to many shows and was proud of his "Mancave" garage at home. Ken loved hosting many pool parties, bonfires, but most of all their famous Halloween parties where he was happy to see all the children enjoying the displays he created.  Under his tough exterior was a man with a huge heart. If you needed anything fixed, he could do it and was happy to help. Ken is predeceased by his parents, Richard and Evelyn (Cowburn) Monica, three sisters; Donna Applebee, Patricia and Becky Monica and his brother-in-law, Mark Dudwick.
