Obituary

Kenneth Joseph Orbon, 77, of Liverpool, passed away unexpectedly on November 10, 2022.

Kenny (to his family and childhood friends) was born in Long Island, NY, on April 22, 1945, to the late Joseph and Catherine Orbon. He grew up in Bayside, Queens, NY. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Finance from Iona College in 1967 and a Master's in Business Administration from Syracuse University in 1974. He served honorably in the army from 1970 to 1972, earning the rank of SP4.

In 1974, Ken committed his life to Christ and lived an uncomplicated, faithful walk with God through to the very end. He was a prayer warrior, with a simple but profound belief in God that he spoke of to every person he encountered. His kindness and generosity meant always putting others ahead of himself. Dad has, more than once, offered someone the shirt off his own back (usually a flannel).

He was a dedicated family man who chose to be a father to four beloved children, working tirelessly to provide for his band of hooligans. As grandchildren came along, he delighted in holding each new baby and was forever their biggest cheerleader, amazed at their energy and creativity and understanding of newfangled gadgets.

Kenneth worked a variety of jobs over the years, including at General Electric, as a cost estimator, and at Green Lakes Golf Course, because he loved the game. Sunday afternoons at home were often quiet so Dad could hear the hushed commentary as his favorite golfers approached the greens.

Ken enjoyed long drives and trips with his wife, especially through the Adirondacks in autumn. He could always be counted on to know peak weekend. His favorite vacations included trips to visit his brother Richie or anywhere he could be near an ocean, especially in Rhode Island or Ocracoke.

In addition to his parents, Joseph and Catherine Orbon, and a wonderful aunt, Gertrude Orbon, Kenneth was predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Genevieve, and his infant son Matthew Scott Orbon.

He is survived by his children Jessica (Jeff) Reals, Joshua (Jennifer) Brown, Joe (Jen) Brown, and Amanda (Rigoberto) Reyes; 12 treasured grandchildren: Shannon, Noah, and Wyatt Reals; Samantha, Simon, and Clara Brown; Collin Kenneth Joseph, Logan, and Mason Brown; and Brianna, Ricardo, and Armando Reyes; a brother Richard (Peggy) Orbon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
