Kyle J. Mertz, 35, of North Syracuse, NY passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, due to post-surgical complications. He was born in Syracuse, NY, son to George and Carmella (DeBonzo) Mertz, Jr. Kyle graduated from Charles W. Baker High School in Baldwinsville, Class of 2008 and continued his studies at Onondaga Community College. He was united in marriage to the former Sara E. Andress, sharing a blessed union together for 14 years. Kyle was employed for several years as a Processing Assistant in Amazon’s warehouse in East Syracuse, NY. He was a very hard worker, loyal to his job and co-workers, being a leader and example to those around him.

Kyle was a gentle, kind and funny man. He loved to laugh and was an amazing husband, father, son, brother and friend. His siblings were his best friends. Kyle enjoyed spending time with his loved ones and his dog Peanut. He loved to cook, making homemade pizza and meatballs, especially his delicious pulled pork. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Sara E. Mertz of North Syracuse, NY, his beloved infant son, Anthony J. Mertz, his loving parents, George and Carmella Mertz and his brothers, Jason and Aaron Mertz all of Cicero, NY. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Rt 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kyle’s memory can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
