Scott, Sr.
October 18, 1927 – June 27, 2022
Leonard "Len" C. Scott, Sr., 94 of Liverpool passed away peacefully on Monday with his family at his side. Born in Syracuse, Len graduated from North High School. In 1945, he joined the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country during WWII. Once discharged, he returned home and completed his education at Syracuse University obtaining his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 1953, he was united in marriage to Teresa M. Russo, a blessed union of 69 years. Len enjoyed a 38-year career with General Electric, retiring in 1989 as a Manager in their Heavy Military Electronics Division. He was a member of Pi Tau Sigma, an International Honor Society for Mechanical Engineers, and the NYS Professional Engineers Association. After retiring, Len enjoyed golfing, trout fishing, cross country skiing, and biking. He rode for over 25,000 miles in 20 years and loved to say he biked around the world. Len loved his family and received their love in return. He was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. He helped prepare sandwiches for the homeless men's shelter and served at bereavement luncheons. Len is predeceased by his parents, James V. and Magdalen (Pawlowski) Scott, three brothers; James, Harold and Kenneth Scott and his sister, Mary Kathryn (Scott) Toly.
Surviving is his beloved wife, Teresa M. (Russo) Scott of Liverpool; three children: Lorraine C. (Donald) Backer of Peachtree Corners, GA; Leonard C. (Lee) Scott, Jr. of Canton, MI; Karen R. (Thomas) Holmes of Clay, NY; five grandchildren: Kevin (Cara) Holmes of Chittenango, NY; Keith (Emily) Holmes of Durham, NC; Leonard C. (Kaitlyn) Scott, III of Durand, MI; Emily (Robert) Blickenstaff of Suwanee, GA; Alexandra Scott of Canton, MI; three great-grandsons: Kingston, Henry, and Calvin; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 4, 2022, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Maurer Funeral Home, Moyers Corners, 3541 State Rt 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 425 Beechwood Ave, Liverpool, NY 13088. The Rite of Committal and Entombment will follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery Mausoleum.
