Linda (Buettner) Clarkson passed away on September 29, 2024 at Francis House in Syracuse. She was born on August 23,1948 in Maspeth, New York to John and Bertha Buettner (Lang).
Linda and her brother John (predeceased) grew up in an extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins residing on Long lsland. After attending Adelphi University for two years, Linda moved upstate to continue her education at Syracuse University where she earned Bachelor and Masters degrees. She spent her career of 36 years, in the East Syracuse Minoa Central School District working as a reading teacher, classroom teacher and administrator, finishing her tenure as Principal at Fremont Elementary School.

She also played tennis, racquet ball, and pickle ball, but her favorite sport was golf. Linda and Bob were among the first residents of Radisson and often played at Radisson Greens Golf Course.
Linda volunteered her time and talents to many different causes in Central New York. She served on various committees and the Board of Directors in Radisson where she also helped start the community's Nursery School. She was a member of the founding Parish Council for St. Elizabeth Anne Seton Church and served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister there for many years. A long-term breast cancer survivor, Linda also dedicated countless hours to the Susan G Komen Foundation and their annual Central New York Race for the Cure.
Linda's dedication to education was founded in her passion for reading which she shared with her children, grandchildren, and the many students who passed through her classrooms. After retiring from ESM, Linda was elected to the Baldwinsville Public Library Board of Directors, serving multiple terms and helping with a variety of activities and events.
She is survived by Bob, her husband of 50 years, daughter Lindsay (Tim) MacConaghy of Ithaca, son John of Los Angeles, and grandsons, Miles and Grady MacConaghy.
