Obituary

Lois (McConnell) Bailey, 92, of Liverpool passed away early Saturday morning after a long bout of COVID and the complications that developed. Born in Syracuse to the late Harry Fox and Ruth (Dunning) McConnell, Lois lived in the South/Valley area until moving to Liverpool with her family in 1968. She graduated from Syracuse Central High School. During high school and after graduation she worked for the National Grange Insurance company and then New York Telephone Company until her retirement.  Lois became a member of LaFayette Avenue Methodist Church, where she met "Bud" Bailey and where they married. Their first homes were in the South/Valley where their sons were born. Lois supported the interests of her sons, scouting and sports and that continued when the family moved to Liverpool. Most importantly, wherever they lived the church became the center of their lives and to Lois, the United Methodist Women was a Way of Life.

Lois also supported school and neighborhood programs and became a volunteer for St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center and for a short time was a member of their Administrative Board of the Auxiliary.  She was a loving mother of four, grandmother of eight and great-grandmother to six. She enjoyed spending time with family, working on puzzles of all sorts, reading, entertaining and keeping in touch with extended family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband of over 65 years, Loren A. Bailey, her son, Gaven, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Lois is survived by 3 sons Mark (JoAnn Cook), Daren M. and Colin (Laura); 8 grandchildren Gretta (Jonathan) Miles, Dustin (Sonja), Marshall (Sara), Deirdre, Melissa, Evan, Meghan and Justin Bailey; and 6 great-grandchildren Addison and Benjamin Miles, Brian, Ella, Zachary and Alexander Bailey, her sister, Jean R. Harrigan and many nieces and nephews.
