January 16, 1943 – November 28, 2022
Lorraine B. Henning, 79, of New Bern, NC formally of Liverpool, NY where she resided in the Village of Liverpool for 42 years, was called to be with the Lord on November 28, 2022, at Carolina East Medical Center. She was born on January 16, 1943, in Syracuse, NY.
Lorraine was a dedicated employee of Upstate Medical Center ER. She owned Henning's Wharf Restaurant in Liverpool, NY for many years. She enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo and she certainly was a great shopper. She was also an avid S.U. Basketball fan and a devoted member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Liverpool.
She is preceded in death by her son, John Michael Henning and twin sister, Linda A. Hogan.
She is survived by her son, Robert M. Henning, Jr. (Kelly) of Liverpool, NY; her daughter, Eleanor Rumpel (Robert Bordeaux) of New Bern, NC and her sister, Eleanor B. Michaels of Clay, NY; grandchildren, Garret D. Smorol (Caroline) of Huntersville, NC, Krista M. Henning of Warners, NY, Erik M. Henning (Julie) of Liverpool, NY, Jacob Henning of Marcellus, NY, Kendal C., Gracie C. and Cole R. Henning of Liverpool, NY; 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that she adored.
Special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit of Carolina East Medical Center, who made her final days very peaceful.
She took her last flight home to Liverpool with her favorite "Stewardess", her daughter Elle, who took great care of her for the past 2.5 years. Lorraine was very grateful for the great care she received during her battle with a TBI, Dementia and Parkinson's Disease.
Calling hours will be Monday, January 16, 2023 from 5:00-7:00pm with a Celebration of Life to follow at 7:00pm at the Maurer Funeral Home, 300 Second Street, Liverpool, NY 13088. A private burial will be in Pine Plains Cemetery.
