She spent several years as a volunteer in the gift shop at Loretto and then volunteered with Meals on Wheels, St. Joseph's Hospital and she made rosaries at the Franciscan Villa. Marguerite spent many hours crocheting baby hats for the newborns at St. Joseph's, as well as hats and mittens for those who needed them.

Marguerite is predeceased by her husband, John F. Walter, her parents, sisters, Mary, Anna and Helen and brothers, Michael and George.

Surviving to cherish Marguerite's memory are her two daughters, Mary Ellen (Kirk) Baughman of Jay, NY and Michele (Metford) Frost of Marcellus, NY, grandchildren; Shaun Baughman, Shannon (John) Caccavale, Sara Baughman, Matthew Frost, Luke Frost, and Megan Frost, great-granddaughters, Lily and Amelia Caccavale (who always brought a smile to her face) and two nephews, John and Michael Yasenchak.
