Marie
Bergemann
November 4, 1929 – December 30, 2021
Marie (Brooks) Bergemann passed away peacefully on Thursday at the age of 92. Marie was born to the late Mary and Joseph Brooks on November 4, 1929. Marie grew up in St Albans, New York, where she met her late husband Theodore (Ted) whom she was married to for 49 years until his passing in December, 1999. Marie and Ted lived in Franklin Square, Long Island until 1992 when they moved to Syracuse to be closer to their sons and grandchildren.
Marie was a homemaker for Ted and their boys until 1975 when she became bookkeeper at Legal Aide Services in Hempstead, NY. She retired from there in 1992 when she moved to Syracuse. During her time in Syracuse she enjoyed being involved in the St. Daniel parish, where she helped in many different areas; lector, Eucharistic Minister, religious education and treasurer of the Wisdom People. Marie was dedicated to the church and went to mass every day, except Sundays, as she so enjoyed Saturday evening mass with her family. Every fall, Marie and Ted cherished their annual trip to her most favorite place, Bermuda. Marie also loved their annual summer vacation to Maine with her children and grandchildren. She is predeceased by her son Paul in 1983.Waiting for her in heaven are her two brothers and many sisters and brothers-in-law as well as her mother and father-in-law who were very special to her.
Marie will be missed for her wit and how she liked to say what she truly thought as she was never one to hold back. Everyone who knew her, knew of her love of food and how she enjoyed everything that she ate.
Marie leaves behind her two sons, Tom (Sue) and John (Grace), her nine grandchildren and six great grand-children whom she dearly loved and watched grow up. Also, a sister-in-law and her husband plus many nieces and nephews whom she loved to speak with and catch up with over the years. She will be greatly missed by the families of her daughters-in-law who welcomed her over the years, as well as the extended family at St Daniel Church.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 3, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Maurer Funeral Home, Inc. 300 Second St. Liverpool.
