Marie Therese Wolf, a beloved resident of Boothbay, Maine, peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine, surrounded by her loving family. The compassionate and dedicated staff at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House provided her with exceptional care during her final days, ensuring her comfort and well-being.
Born in Bogota, New Jersey, Marie married George A. Wolf in 1952 and together they raised three daughters. With a fulfilling career as an English Professor at Bergen Community College, Marie eventually retired to Boothbay, Maine, where she embraced her passions for gardening and volunteer work at the Boothbay Harbor Used Book Store. She also served as a dedicated lecturer at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Boothbay Harbor.
Marie is preceded in death by her loving husband, George, and her daughter, Dawn Ellen Wolf. She leaves behind a legacy cherished by her surviving daughters, Marie Goren of Boothbay, ME and Wendy (James) Blasland of Liverpool, NY. Marie also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Christopher (Natalie) Goren, Laura (Jacob) Kiley, Brendan (Lindsay) Goren, James (Monika) Blasland, William Blasland, Emily Blasland, Billie Greenfield, as well as six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 from 9:00am to 10:30am at the Maurer Funeral Home, Inc., 300 Second St., Liverpool, NY 13088, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am in St. Cecilia Church, 1001 Woods Road, Syracuse, NY 13209. The Rite of Committal and burial will take place on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 10:00am in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse, NY, where Marie will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, who passed away in 2016.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions be made to St. Joseph's Indian School, P.O. Box 326, Chamberlain, SD, 57326, or through their website at stjo.org/give.
