March 3, 1940 – December 17, 2025
Mary A. (Sharkey) Cerra, 85, of Liverpool, NY passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday at Crouse Hospital. She was born in Syracuse to the late John and Angela (Sposato) Sharkey and was a graduate of St. Anthony of Padua High School. She met her husband Vito while working at General Motors. After they married, Mary became a homemaker and babysat the neighborhood kids. They shared 52 wonderful years together until his passing in 2021. Mary was an avid reader and a woman of great faith. She was a member of the Miraculous Medal Association and an active parishioner of Pope John XXIII Church, volunteering in their food pantry. She is predeceased by her brother, John J. Sharkey.
Surviving to cherish Mary's memory are her two daughters, Annemarie (Christopher) Cosper and Tina (Jeremy) Reeder; grandchildren, Heather, J.D., Jaylynn and Jaclynn, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:30 am at Pope John XXIII Church, 8290 Soule Road, Liverpool, New York 13090. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am with The Rite of Committal and burial to follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
Mary's family would like to thank the staff in the Crouse Hospital Emergency Room for their compassionate care.
