Mary Kristen "Kris" Morris, 71, of Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully at Francis House on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Syracuse on May 5, 1953, to the late Daniel E. Morris III and Margaret Connolly Morris, Kris was a compassionate and devoted daughter and caregiver throughout her life.

A 1971 graduate of Nottingham High School, Kris initially achieved a degree in Hospital Administration at Ithaca College. However, she soon realized that her true calling was in direct patient care, leading her to earn a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Syracuse University. For over 40 years, Kris dedicated herself to the nursing profession, beginning her career in intensive care units in Florida, where she provided critical care to patients in their most vulnerable moments. She later transitioned to home healthcare, working as a Visiting Nurse in Florida and also with St. Joseph Home Care in Syracuse, where she found immense fulfillment in offering comfort, companionship, and skilled care to patients in their homes. Her kindness, expertise, and unwavering commitment to her patients left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, Kris was predeceased by her brother, Daniel E. Morris IV, and two infant brothers. She is survived by her loving sisters, Julia Stevens (Arthur) and Catherine Morris, both of New Braunfels, TX; two nephews, Hunter Frye (Lorena) and Daniel E. Morris (Sarah); her niece, Marie Morris-Chaloux (Paul); several cousins and lifelong friends, all of whom will cherish her memory.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 10:00 am in Holy Cross Church, 4112 East Genesee St., DeWitt, NY. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt, NY.

Kris and all of her family extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and many volunteers at Francis House for the compassionate and thoughtful care she received in her final days.
