Obituary

Mary Ann O'Hern, 87, of Marietta, GA passed away at her home on Monday, July 17, 2023, surrounded by her family.  She was born in Utica, NY, the only daughter of Alois & Mary Altschaeffl and spent her formative years in Watertown, NY. She graduated from Most Holy Rosary High School in Syracuse and went on to attend St. Mary of the Woods in Terra Haute, IN where she graduated in 1958 with a B.S. in Home Economics. After graduating from college, she married Gerry O'Hern and they started their family in Alton, IL. The family moved to Liverpool, NY in 1963 where they lived for 55 years and Mary Ann was a Communicant of Christ the King Church, an AV Assistant with Liverpool High School and a volunteer with Liverpool Meals on Wheels.

Mary Ann loved collecting antiques and traveling. Annual family trips to Cape Cod created many wonderful memories, as did family visits to the lake house she and Gerry built in the Adirondack Mountains in Old Forge, NY.  Many a cold Syracuse winter was enjoyed in sunny Marco Island with visits from friends and family. Mary Ann always treasured her time with family and friends.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband, John G. "Gerry" O'Hern of 64 years; children, Michael (Dina) O'Hern of Boulder, CO, Peter (Victoria) O'Hern of Landrum, SC, Sharon (Joe) Egitton of Marietta, GA; eight grandchildren, Audrey, Cory, Ellen, Lauren, Joe, Matthew, Caitlin and Michael Anne and a great-granddaughter, Charlotte.
