Matthew "Matt" R. Jones, 38, of the Town of Schroeppel, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 12, 2025. Matt was born in Syracuse and lived in the Town of Schroeppel all his life. He was employed by the Town of Schroeppel as a Medium Equipment Operator. Matt was a graduate of Phoenix High School, Class of 2005. He was an adventurer and loved the outdoors. He loved fishing, traveling, target shooting with his guns, music, loved children, (he was like a kid himself). For two seasons he played semi pro football until he fell ill. He loved spending time with dog "Seal" and spending time with his family and friends. Everywhere he went, he brought love and laughter.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his mother, Teresa L. Jones of Pennellville, NY; his father and step-mother, Gerald and Patricia Jones of Phoenix, NY; brothers, Thomas G. Jones of Phoenix, NY and Jeremy (Michelle) Jones of Syracuse, NY; nephews, Maxwell and David, Jr.; step-brothers, David and Jacob Kingsbury of Phoenix, NY; nieces, Jayden and Marea; goddaughter, Millie Najdul and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Rt 31 Baldwinsville, NY 13027, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.  Burial will be private.
