Melanie May (Nichols) Edgar, 67 of Mattydale passed away on Tuesday after a short illness, surrounded by her family. Born in Syracuse, Mel was raised in Mattydale. After graduating from North Syracuse High School in 1972, she was united in marriage to Randy Edgar, a blessed union of 50 years. Melanie worked for 20 years for Utilities Mutual Insurance Company as a Claims Representative and retired from Michael's in Syracuse as a Sales Associate after 15 years of employment. Although living in the Syracuse area her entire life, Mel's heart and soul was always in the North Country.  She cherished her favorite place and family camp "Blew Heaven" spending her summers on Point Peninsula on Chaumont Bay with friends and family.  Mel enjoyed riding her jet ski, going on motorcycle rides and always loved a great sunset. She will be remembered for her love of animals and great sense of humor right up to the end. She is predeceased by her parents, James H. and Margaret (Mohat) Nichols.

Surviving are her husband, Randall "Randy" J. Edgar of Mattydale, NY, her son, Ian (Daphne) Edgar of Kirkville, NY and her grandson, Jadon Edgar.

A celebration of Mel's life will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at 7755 Myers Road, Kirkville, NY 13082.
