Obituary

Michael "Geegs" L. Stahrr, 80, of Liverpool passed away on Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Buffalo, NY a son of the late Walter and Pearl (Rodland) Stahrr. Mike graduated from Canisius High School and attended Canisius College. He started his career with Niagara Mohawk in Buffalo. In 1960 he enlisted in the National Guard of New York and the Army Reserves, being honorably discharged in 1966. In 1963 he came to the Syracuse area settling in Liverpool. Mike retired from Niagara Mohawk in Syracuse after 36 years of employment. He loved the outdoors, traveling, boating and spending the summers in the Adirondacks. Mike was a model train enthusiast and collector. Most of all he cherished time spent with his grandchildren. He was a parishioner and founding member of Pope John XXIII Catholic Church in Liverpool.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Judy (Kulp) Stahrr of Liverpool, two sons, Christopher (Elizabeth) Stahrr of Long Beach, CA, Greg (Charlotte) Stahrr of North Syracuse, two daughters, Linda (JD) Parker of Pompey, NY, Karen (Jim) Shaffer of Liverpool, 11 grandchildren, Craig (Jena), David, Justus, Aaron, Tyler, Amy, Alyssa, Brianna, Meghan, Delaney, Trevor and expecting his first great-grandchild in March, brother, Peter (Patricia) Stahrr of Lancaster, NY  and sister, Barbara (Roger) Neeland of Alden, NY.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 from 4 to 7 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Rt 31, Baldwinsville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 am in Pope John the XXIII Catholic Church, 8290 Soule Road, Liverpool. Burial will be private in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville. The Stahrr family would like to thank the doctors and staff of 1-4 at St. Joseph's Hospital for their excellent care.
