Nancy C. Mattis, 86, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Nancy was born on August 19, 1936 in Binghamton, NY to Roy Barker and Catherine (Watkins) Barker. She spent her childhood and high school years in Hancock, NY. After high school she moved to Syracuse to attend CCBI where she met her eventual husband, Leo. They were married in1958 and she had three sons.
Nancy was a dedicated stay at home mother and raised her three sons prior to going back to work. She held many jobs including time at Marine Midland Bank, a teacher's aide in the Liverpool School District, and at WCNY in Liverpool as the Building Receptionist and also as part of the Membership Team. Upon retirement in 1993 Nancy and Leo moved to Summerfield, Florida and traveled extensively through the U.S. and Canada. Nancy returned to the Liverpool area in 2014 to be close to family. Nancy is predeceased by her husband, Leo who passed away in 2004.
Surviving to cherish Nancy's memory are her sons; Barry (Kimmy) Mattis of Seoul, South Korea, Jim (Kathy) Mattis of Liverpool, and Mark (Robyn) Mattis of Woodinville, WA. She is also survived by her sister, Pat (Bill) Wilson of Richmond, VA, six grandchildren; Rich, Nicole, Neil, Catherine, Arianna and Rand, her in-laws; Gordon and Elizabeth Allen and Ann Mattis, her beautiful great-granddaughter, Emlyn, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to thank the team at Brookdale-Manlius and St. Joseph's Hospital for the loving care they provided through her illness.
There will be no calling hours or service and burial will be private.
