April 25, 1936 – April 16, 2024
Peter W. Rees, 87, of Liverpool, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday at Crouse Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Syracuse, NY the son of the late William Stanley and Anna Jane (Clapsaddle) Rees. Pete was a life-long Village of Liverpool resident. He graduated from Liverpool High School, Class of 1953, where he was a Four Letterman in football, baseball, basketball and track. In 1993, Peter was inducted into the Liverpool High School Athletic Hall of Fame. For 35 years, Pete was employed by the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier throughout the Liverpool area. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers for over 60 years and served as a Union Representative. After his retirement, he worked as a crossing guard for 15 years at Long Branch Elementary School. Peter was sincere about his faith in God and his love for his family and friends. He will be remembered for his huge heart and his kind and generous ways. Pete was an avid bowler and sports enthusiast. He was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Liverpool. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Alice A. Rees earlier this month.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his daughter, Kelly (Phil) Nash, his loving partner of 50 years, Lois W. Ayer, her daughter, Ellen Earley and her children and grandchildren, his granddaughter, Jessica Yates, two great-granddaughters, Gianna and Olivia, several cousins and a longtime friend, Bill W.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home, Inc., 300 Second St. Liverpool with funeral services to follow at 1:00 pm. Peter will be laid to rest with his sister Alice in Lakeview Cemetery in Richfield Springs at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 210 Hazel Street, Liverpool NY 13088.
