Raymond P. McCarthy, 83, of Liverpool, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Francis House. Ray was born in Lackawanna, NY to Dr. Raymond J. McCarthy and Margaret Dugan McCarthy and has lived in Liverpool, NY for the past 60 years. He retired from Niagara Mohawk in 1994 after 32 years of service. He was a graduate of Bishop Timon High School in Buffalo, NY, Syracuse University and was an avid fan of SU Basketball and Football. He was a member of the Liverpool, Syracuse and NYS JAYCEES, Beaver Meadows Golf Club, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Raymond also served with the New York State National Guard.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years Carolyn DeMatteo McCarthy, son Patrick J. McCarthy of Malvern, PA, 2 daughters; Colleen (William) Derks of Cary, NC, Meredith (Troy) Andrews of Cicero, NY, 2 brothers; Joseph V. (Maureen) McCarthy, David J. (Mary) McCarthy, 8 grandchildren; Torri Derks, Cameron McCarthy, Drew McCarthy, Gannon Andrews, Keaton Derks, Jackson Andrews, Cooper Derks, and Killian McCarthy,  and many special nieces & nephews.

A calling hour will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, 21 Cherry Tree Circle, Liverpool, NY 13090, followed by a Memorial Mass to be celebrated at 12:00 pm. Ray has made an anatomical donation to Upstate Medical University.
