Reta A. (Haven) Busse, 84, of Liverpool, NY passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, with her daughter at her side. She was born in Syracuse, NY, a daughter of the late Ferris and Alice (King) Haven. Reta grew up in Cicero, NY and was a straight "A" student, graduating from North Syracuse High School. Following her junior year, she spent her summer in Germany as an exchange student. After high school, Reta worked as a secretary at Crouse Hinds where she met Leonard C. Busse. They married and Reta became a loving homemaker for her 4 school age children. She went back into the business world at O'Brien & Gere Engineering Company. Starting as a Secretary, Reta quickly worked her way up in their Human Resources Department as a Benefits Administrator. After her retirement, Reta and Len enjoyed their spring vacations to Aruba and spending summers along the St. Lawrence River.  In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Leonard C. Busse, sister, Susan Haven Altenburg, brother, Kenneth Haven, daughter-in-law, Denise Busse and son-in-law, David Zuccaro.

Surviving to cherish Reta's memory are her children; Bruce E. Busse (Karen Bush), Janice M. Busse, Scott A. (Shirley) Busse, Donna L. Zuccaro, three grandchildren; Morgan (Tyler) Chaney, Alicia (Adam) King and Rebecca (Anthony) Ashley, 7 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home, Inc. 300 Second Street, Liverpool, NY 13088, with funeral services to follow at 6:00 pm. Burial will be on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11:00 am in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay, NY.
