Obituary

Richard G. Bailey, 76, of DeRuyter Lake, NY passed peacefully surrounded by his family on November 13, 2021 after bravely living with Alzheimer's Disease for many years.

Rick was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 54 years, Lorraine Church Bailey.  He was a supportive and inspiring Dad to his four children and a fun and dedicated Papa to his twelve grandchildren.   Rick was admired for his caring and compassionate nature.  He lived his life extending acts of kindness and friendship to all who crossed his path.

Rick grew up in Liverpool, NY and graduated from Assumption Catholic Academy and Onondaga Community College.  He enlisted in the Army Reserves during the Vietnam War along with his two brothers, Robert & Ronald. He retired from Carrier Corporation after 40 years of dedicated service. Always devoted to his faith, he taught CCD and was a Eucharistic Minister for years at St. Joseph's Church in Liverpool and later at St. James Church in Cazenovia. He volunteered at Caz Cares Food Pantry and at Crouse Hospital's Spiritual Care sharing the Eucharist and bringing comfort to their patients.

He loved fishing, hunting, bowling, keeping his yard meticulous and cars spotless. In 2004, Rick and his wife's love for the water led them to DeRuyter Lake where they continued to make wonderful memories with his beloved family and many lifelong friends.

Rick was predeceased by his parents, Robert & Helen Bailey; brother, Ronald and sister, Mary Jill Loewy. Keeping his memory alive in addition to his wife are daughters, Christine (Jamie) DeRegis, Linda (Todd) Stewart, Karen (Dr. Nicolas) Raio and son, Kevin (Alexis) Bailey; brother, Robert and sister, Janet (Richie) Melito; grandchildren Ethan and Christian DeRegis; Jason (Betsy), Maegan, Emily and Eric Stewart; Juliana, Olivia and Anthony Raio; Carter, Kyle and Reid Bailey and many nieces and nephews, each individually beloved and important to him.
