Richard "Dick" Aylett Dombrowsky, 96, of Liverpool, passed away on March 31, 2022 at his home under hospice care surrounded by loved ones. Born November 14, 1925, in Abington, PA, Richard was the son of the late Henry August Dombrowsky and Nancy Violet (Aylett) Dombrowsky.
Richard graduated from Pleasantville High School in Pleasantville, NY, class of 1944. During his senior year, he was drafted into the U.S. Navy for WWII, serving as a Fireman First Class aboard the USS Iowa, and left the service with an honorable discharge in June, 1946. He went on to graduate from the Milwaukee School of Engineering in September, 1949. Thereafter, he procured employment at General Electric in the Syracuse area as an electrical engineer, retiring from there in the late 1980's.
Richard met his wife, Helen Mae Scott, at General Electric and they were married on June 30, 1951 in Clayton, NY. Together they raised four children and were able to enjoy their home in Liverpool, as well as a summer lake cottage on Millsite Lake in Redwood, NY, which they purchased in 1992.
Richard was a member of the Liverpool Methodist Church, a devout Mason of the Liverpool Syracuse Lodge #501 F&AM, as well as being extremely active in Boy Scouts of America.
In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by a son, Richard Franklin Dombrowsky; his sister, Nancy Jane (Dombrowsky) Frey, and her husband, Quentin Victor Frey.
Richard is survived by his wife Helen Mae (Scott) Dombrowsky; sons, James Edward Dombrowsky of Ireland, WV and Bradford Scott Dombrowsky and his wife, Carol (Allison) Dombrowsky of Baldwinsville, NY; daughter, Susan Carole (Dombrowsky) Hinebaugh of Liverpool, NY; six grandchildren, Jessica Mae (Hinebaugh) Begley and her husband, Kevin Begley, Kristi Linn Hinebaugh, Liza Mae Dombrowsky, Sara Destiny Sun, Cody Joseph Dombrowsky, and Clayton Richard Dombrowsky; four great-grandchildren: Eloise Dombrowsky, Aurora Levely, Theodore Begley, and Rory Begley.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 13, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm with a memorial service to begin at 1:30 pm at Maurer Funeral Home, 300 Second St., Liverpool, NY.
