Richard T.
Lynch
August 24, 1927 – October 8, 2024
Richard T. Lynch, 97, of Memphis, NY, left us to join his wife Barbara on her birthday, October 8, 2024. Known to many as Dick or "DeDe", he was blessed with a 75-year marriage to Barbara, who passed away last October. Both cherished the times they spent with their children and grandchildren at their home on Seneca River and at their camp in the Adirondacks. He will be remembered for his family love, numerous stories, guidance, and support, along with his witty and comical human spirit.
Richard was a 1946 graduate of Onondaga Valley Academy where he met Barbara and helped lead the varsity hockey team. He worked as a carpenter for over 40 years and retired from JD Taylor Construction at the age of 62. He was an avid fan of his children's activities at Jordan-Elbridge High School and volunteered his time as a little league coach, school board member, JE Band Booster, and JE Athletic Booster. He was an active member of Plainville Christian Church, the Order of Masons, Tigris Shriners and the Carpenters Local Union. He loved retirement, spending his time attending activities of his grandchildren, fishing, hunting, reinvigorating his hockey career and skating with Barbara and the Golden Skate Club. As a member of the Gray Wolves Hockey Team in Syracuse, he was proud to have skated with them until the age of 90. He cherished his Adirondack camp and spent many days fishing Little Black Creek and West Canada Creek, and hunting along Ash Ridge and Conklin Brook.
Richard is survived by five children; Wendy Lynch (Gary Margolis), Eugene "Bub" Lynch, Audrey (Jim) McNickol, Ken (Michele) Lynch, and Marty Lynch; thirteen grandchildren: Jesse Lynch, Sam Margolis (Shannon O'Brien), Ari (Josh) Moulton, Miranda (Teru) Lynch, Colin (Angela) Lynch, Shawn Lynch (Katherine Filchak), Paige McNickol, Connor Lynch, Megan Lynch, Abbie McNickol, Zach Lynch, Gavin Lynch and Natalie Lynch. He was blessed with 3 great-granddaughters: Jackson Moulton, Carter Moulton, and Kennedy Barbara Lynch.
A private celebration of life and burial will be held later this month.
The family would like to thank his at home caregivers and more recently, the Francis House for their wonderful care and love over the past several weeks. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions in Richard's memory to Francis House and/or Hospice of Central New York.
Please sign the Maurer Funeral Home online guestbook for Richard to express your condolences to his family.
