Richard "Dick" E. Matthews, 80, of East Syracuse, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025.  Dick was born and raised in the Village of Liverpool.  He was a graduate of Liverpool High School Class of 63' and then went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree from Columbia College. Dick retired from Carrier Corporation where he worked as a Designer/Draftsman for 38 years.  His work at Carrier Corporation gave him the opportunity to travel extensively to many countries throughout the world.  He had a great passion for cycling.  After his retirement he completed a 93 day bicycle trek from Virginia to Oregon.  He also cycled in the Swiss Alps and did many trips up and down the east coast and the north of the United States.  He was a member of the Onondaga Cycle Club and the Onondaga Ski Club.  Dick loved spending time with his many friends and family.

He is predeceased by his parents, Eldred & Anna (Daucher) Matthews, and his brother, Michael.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his daughter, Lisa Matthews of Liverpool, 2 brothers, Robert Matthews of Liverpool and Edward (Lauri) Matthews of Wellesley Island, 3 sisters, Jan Schmick of Liverpool, Elaine Reynolds of Eastwood and Lorraine (Alex) Palmisano of Liverpool and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home, Inc., 300 Second Street, Liverpool, NY 13088 followed by a funeral service at 7:00 pm.

Burial will be private.
