Richard Francis Moran, 76, of Clay, NY passed away on October 7, 2023 at home.

Richard "Dick" was born in Syracuse, NY in 1947 to Francis Richard and Florence Wallace Moran. His love of airplanes and flying prompted him to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Flight School in Florida before serving in the Army from 1968-1970. He then spent over 30 years as a fleet service team member at American Airlines at Hancock International Airport in Syracuse.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, James, Michael, and Patrick as well as his Vietnam buddy, Darryl Rastetter. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susan; son, James of East Lansing, MI (Traci); daughter, Kelly of Portsmouth, NH (Simon); son, Peter of Waterbury Center, VT (Sille); brother, Timothy Moran (Jenny) of Winter Springs, FL; many cousins, nieces and nephews; as well as his great friend, Mike Droll. He treasured his time with his granddaughters, Claire, Rose, and Olivia and loved being their Papa.

He will be remembered for his deep compassion to the people and places surrounding him, dedicating much of his life to caring for friends, family, and neighbors as well as cultivating an incredibly beautiful six-acre property filled annually with his vegetable garden and flowers, many of which he thoughtfully gave away.

Friends and family may call on Friday, November 10, 2023 from 4:00pm - 6:00pm at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Route 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.  A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 11:00 am in United Church of Christ in Bayberry, 215 Blackberry Road, Liverpool, NY 13090.
