Richard D. Simmons Jr., 65, of Syracuse passed away on Friday at Upstate University Hospital. Born in Buffalo, NY, Rich was employed as a chef for many restaurants in the Syracuse area. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed cooking at all the get-togethers. Rich was also an avid SU basketball fan.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife, Cheryl (Christian) Simmons of Syracuse, NY, his parents, Richard D. and Marlyn F. (Howden) Simmons, Sr. of Liverpool, NY, his sister, Roberta L. (Ronald) Dallas of Liverpool, NY, two brothers, Jeffrey S. Simmons of Glens Falls, NY and Donald E. (Amy) Simmons of Ballston Lake, NY, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held privately at a future date.
