Richard A. Van Marter

Richard A. Van Marter, 94, of Liverpool, passed away Friday, April 17, 2026 after a brief illness. Richard retired from the Street Brothers Construction Co. where he worked as an Operating Engineer for 45 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. Richard was known as “Mr Fix It”, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do or fix when given the opportunity. Along with his dog “Willis” he took great pride in taking care of his lawn, gardening, and anything that had to do with the outdoors.

He was predeceased by his wife, Sandra Van Marter who died in 2022, his parents, Willis and Marjorie Van Marter, brother, Bill, & sister, Pat.

Surviving to cherish Richard’s memory are his children, Vicki Fitch, Richard (Darlene)Van Marter, Ginger Van Marter (Michael Nolan), Mark Van Marter (Linda), daughter in-law, Kelly (Jeff) Brazeal, brother, Edward (Judy) Van Marter, his grandchildren, Chelsea Fitch, Alexa Russo, Shelby Russo, Ethan (Marianne) Kawelo, Sean (Luisa) Murney and six great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 25. 2026 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home, Inc., 300 Second Street, Liverpool, NY 13088, with a funeral service to be held at 12:00 pm. Following the service burial will be in Onondaga Valley Cemetery, 2500 Valley Drive, Nedrow, NY 13120.
