Robert "Bob"
George
August 13, 1931 – October 7, 2021
Robert "Bob" George, 90, formerly of Liverpool, NY passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at his home in Clearwater, FL. He was an only child born in Cohoes, NY on August 13, 1931. Bob proudly severed as a US Navy veteran. He was employed as a Firefighter for the Syracuse Fire Department, retiring as Lieutenant after 28 years of service. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus in NY and FL. Family and friends remember him for his kind, loving nature and outgoing personality. Bob was an individual who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing golf, had an intriguing ability to present himself in loud, mismatched outfits (especially for special holidays/events) and reveled in the opportunity to be "100% Irish" for a day during St. Patrick's Day.
He was an active member of his community, always lending a helping hand to anyone "down on their luck" or needing a place to "rest their head" and devoted much of his time to his church. Bob, along with his wife, decided to settle in Florida after falling in love with the atmosphere of permanent residency.
Bob is predeceased by his first wife, Mary (Kinney) George; his parents, Wilfred and Bertha George; infant son, Thomas George; daughter, Libby (Stevens - George) Costanzo; granddaughter, Ashley (Vaeth) Whaley; and cousin, Gary George.
Surviving to cherish Bob's memory are his wife, Joyce George of Clearwater, FL, children; Elaine Welenc (Paul) of Bridgeport, NY, Brian George of Lakeland, FL, Daniel George (Sue) of Liverpool, NY, Michele Beaman (Robert) of Marysville, KS, William H. George, Marie Rogers (Dana) of Dayton, TN, Matthew George of Corpus Christi, TX, William Stevens (Coretta) of Sugar Land, TX; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in Christ the King Church, 21 Cherry Tree Circle, Liverpool, NY 13090. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, followed by The Rite of Committal and burial in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay, NY.
