Robert M. Warner, 76, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2017 surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with ALS. He was born on July 23, 1941 in Auburn, NY to Harry and Grace (Clark) Warner. He attended Port Byron School and joined the Marines at 17. He believed in patriotically serving the country he loved and joined the Army Reserves and served until the age of 60 at which time he retired as a sergeant first class.
Robert's career included working as a police officer and a volunteer fire fighter in Phoenix, NY for many years. As a skilled tradesman, he worked the bulk of his career at Carrier Corporation. Hardworking and industrious, he created two companies Cee and Bee Heating and Air Conditioning and Bob's SharpAl. Later he worked for the Liverpool School District and retired.
Robert enjoyed a vast array of hobbies which included: baking, cooking, winemaking, gardening, woodworking, singing and especially helping others in need. He was a member of the Mallory Wesleyan Church with whom he shared a great love of God.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Grace Warner, his son Douglas L. Warner, brothers Hiram, Bill, Emory, Don and sisters Emily, Alice, Grace and Etta.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cheryl who was a loving and devoted caretaker; along with a team of dedicated aides did a magnificent job of caring for him at home.
Also, survived by 4 children, Darlene (Greg) Cook, Julie Sochia, Michelle Warner and son Robert (Iris) Warner; 6 brothers, Harry (Katie) Warner, Howard (Judy) Warner, Pete (Judy) Warner, George (Dottie) Warner, Paul Warner, John (Gail) Warner and 4 sisters, Helen (Ray) Drabicki, Mary Klaben, Dorothy Warner, Sally Warner; 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life with calling hours will he held on Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Rt. 31, Baldwinsville, NY with services to follow. Contributions in his honor may be made to ALS Association of Upstate New York, Mallory Wesleyan Church or a charity of your choice.
