Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roger A. Dooley, beloved husband, father, and dedicated U.S. Marine, who passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the age of 71.

Roger grew up in Stonington, Illinois, with a deep sense of family, duty, integrity, and loyalty. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 19 and honorably served with the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing at El Toro, California, for 4 years. During this time, he earned numerous accolades for his service, including an E5 Sergeant Ranking, Rifle Sharp Shooter, and the selection to the All-Marine Basketball Team. Roger's time in the Marine Corps instilled in him a lifelong commitment to serving others, and his devotion to his country remained steadfast throughout his life.

After an honorable discharge from the military, Roger continued to embody the values of discipline, resilience, and selflessness in everything he did. As a husband, Roger was a man of integrity, kindness, and strength. He was loving, supportive, and endlessly devoted, always putting his family first. As a father to Kristin and Jeffrey, he was a rock; patient, wise, and a constant source of love and guidance. His love for his family was boundless and he worked tirelessly to provide for and protect them. Roger retired after 30 years of employment with National Grid.

Roger was an avid golfer, fast-pitch baseball player, and basketball player. At any gathering or celebration, Roger and Donna elegantly danced on the dance floor while his nieces lined up, waiting for their turn to dance with him. A shot of Johnnie Walker Blue Label Whisky, offered by Roger, demonstrated the strength of his bonds with friends and family. All who knew him will deeply miss his sense of humor, compassion, and courage.

Roger is survived by his immediate family; Donna, his loving wife of 46 years, his daughter, Kristin and his son, Jeffrey (Michelle), a large extended family, and many close friends. His legacy of service, love, and strength will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Roger on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 10:00 am in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 3494 State Rt 31 Baldwinsville, NY 13027.

Roger's family would like to thank: The Beckwith Family Type Adult Home, located in Liverpool, NY, for their unwavering commitment and compassionate care towards Roger; and The Silver Fox Adult Day Center, located in Baldwinsville, NY, for their patience and support.

We will miss Roger more than words can express, but his legacy of service, love, and sacrifice will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Semper fi.
