Ronald G. Hirst, 85, of Clay, NY, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026 after a long illness. Ronald was born in Albany, NY, and has lived in the CNY area for the past 54 years. He retired from the Rome Developmental Center where for 24 years he worked as the Plant Superintendent.

Ronald was a US Navy veteran. He was an expert handyman, and never met a tool or gadget that he didn’t like. He enjoyed fishing, grilling and metal detecting. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Evelyn, his parents, Harry and Helen Hirst, his older brother, Herbert Hirst, and his twin brother, Donald Hirst.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his daughter, Debra (Daniel) Thomas, 2 sons, Garry (Kathi) Hirst and Ronald (Caryl) Hirst, II, 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.
