Ronald Christian Madsen, 88, of Baldwinsville, NY, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025 at Syracuse Home.

Ron was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and resided in Liverpool then Baldwinsville for the past 20 years.  Ron worked as an electrical engineer for over 40 years, first for General Dynamics in Rochester, Emerson Electric in St. Louis, and eventually retiring from General Electric/Lockheed Martin in Liverpool. He attended Brooklyn Technical High School, then received his Bachelor's Degree from Union College.  After college, he joined the Air Force, serving in France for two years.  He continued his studies at the University of Rochester, where he met and married the love of his life, Patricia, to whom he was married for 61 years.

Ron was an extremely smart, thoughtful and hard-working man. More importantly, he was a loving, devoted husband and father, and a caring friend to many.  He enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, following Syracuse basketball, and monitoring the fluctuations of the financial markets. In retirement, Ron took up golfing, enjoyed traveling and socializing with Pat and their long-time friends, and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Ron is predeceased by his wife Pat, his sister, Diane, and his parents, Kathleen and Christian Madsen.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Kristen (Richard) Capannola of Westfield, MA and Kathryn (William) McShane of Collegeville, PA, grandchildren; Morgan Adams, Lauren Capannola, Ryan McShane, great-grandson; Kieran McShane, and several nieces and nephews.

Ron's family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at both St. Joseph's and Crouse Hospitals, and the exceptional caregivers and staff at Syracuse Home at McHarrie Place, who showed such genuine kindness, respect and support.

A calling hour will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Route 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027. A brief service will follow at 10:00 am at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in Ron's name to Syracuse Home at McHarrie Place, 7740 Meigs Road, Baldwinsville, NY 13027 or to a charity of your choice.
