Obituary

Rose M. (Cirino) Nicotra, 94, of Liverpool passed away on Wednesday at Crouse Hospital. Born in Solvay, NY, she was raised in Liverpool graduating from Liverpool High School, class of 45. Rose started working at Crouse-Hinds as an assembler before being united in marriage to Victor J. Nicotra, a union of 52 years. Together they opened Nicotra's Grocery Market in Liverpool. She co-owned and operated the store while raising her family. Rose was a talented artist creating many beautiful ink drawings and watercolors. She was also an expert at crochet and needlepoint. Known by her family and friends for winning ways, "Poker Rose" loved to play Poker . She was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and a member of the Liverpool Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Rose is predeceased by her son, Carmen J. Nicotra, husband, Victor J. Nicotra and her son Frank A. Nicotra, who passed away the day before her, 3 sisters and a brother.

Surviving are her beloved family; two daughters, Marie Rose (Charles W. Kelly) Nicotra of Wampsville, NY and Rose Marie (Jon) LeRoy of Glenville, NY, her grandson, Tyler J. Darby, her brother, Carmen (Louise) Cirino of Liverpool, NY and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 425 Beechwood Ave, Liverpool, NY 13088. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 10:00 am in church, with the Rite of Committal and burial to follow in Assumption Cemetery.

The Family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Crouse Hospital and palliative care unit for their care and compassion shown to Rose and her family.
