Ross A. Wynings, 73, of Liverpool, NY passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday. He was born in Syracuse, NY to the late Clair and Bernice (Wright) Wynings. Ross graduated from Liverpool High School, Class of 1971, and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserves. He later worked for Conrail Transportation Company from 1974 to 1981 before joining the 174th Air National Guard, where he served as a jet engine mechanic until September of 1990. Ross then enjoyed a fulfilling 35-year career in lawn maintenance as the owner and operator of his own business before working for John Deere Landscapes and later retiring from the Post-Standard.
Ross was known for his kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family. He saw the good in life and will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him. He was a member of the Ultra Flyers of CNY, where he shared his passion for aviation with others.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 53 years, Rita A. (Bottar) Wynings; his two daughters, Joanne Wynings and Christine (Dave) Smith; sisters, Connie (Bill) Jacobe and Joyce (Wayne) Foote; brother, Dennis (Irma) Wynings; three grandchildren, Joseph Richmond, Wyatt Crosby, and Ella Crosby and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Route 31, Baldwinsville, NY, 13027. Funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
