Ruth Ann Hughes, 83, of Phoenix, NY passed way Sunday, March 3, 2024.  Ruth was born in Syracuse, NY to the late Orlo and Daisy (Kimball) Green.  She worked for many years with Liverpool and Phoenix Central School Districts and was a member of The First Congregational Church of Phoenix, NY.  Ruth Ann is predeceased by her parents and siblings, Dorothy Walts, Orlo Green, Jr. and Frederick "Jim" Green.

More than anything Ruth enjoyed family time; she was there for every important event in the lives of her family. Cheering her grandchildren and great-grandchildren on with their wins and lifting them up after their losses.  She was full of love, joy, kindness and laughter. Her beautiful smile lit up a room.

Ruth Ann is survived by her former husband, Lawrence (Josie Arnold) Hughes of Liverpool, NY; son, Lawrence (Mary) Hughes of Newark, NY; daughter, Sherry (Bill) Murtagh of Phoenix, NY; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Green of Palermo, NY and Mary Green of TX; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, March 9, 2024 in The First Congregational Church of Phoenix, 43 Bridge St., Phoenix, NY 13135 with a spring burial in Pennellville Cemetery.
