Sandra M. (McDonald) Vaughn, 84, of Liverpool, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday at Francis House, surrounded by family. She was born and raised in Syracuse, NY, a daughter of the late John and Agnes (Burkett) McDonald. Sandra graduated from Most Holy Rosary School. While still in high school, she started her career as a customer service representative in banking. After taking time away from her career to raise her children, Sandra returned to work as a Customer Service Representative for OnBank & Trust Company in Liverpool, retiring after 16 years of employment. Sandra taught water aerobics in Solvay, enjoyed yoga in the park, and was an avid, talented painter who would often create beautiful works of art and homemade cards to share with family and friends. She loved nature and took every opportunity to appreciate the great outdoors. She liked to golf, kayak and hike. One of her greatest joys was being able to travel extensively. She had the opportunity to travel the world visiting Ireland, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, The Canadian Rockies, Alaska and enjoyed many different adventures traveling all around the United States. Most of all, Sandra cherished time spent with her family and friends. She was a parishioner of Christ the King Church in Bayberry. Sandra is predeceased by her husband, Daniel J. Vaughn and her brother, James McDonald.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. Michael P. (Dr. Adrianne) Vaughn of San Antonio, TX, Stephen J. Vaughn (Charlene Hingston) of Syracuse, NY, five daughters; Mary Patricia Vaughn of Tampa, FL, Debora M. (Craig) Taylor of Cicero, NY, Theresa A. Verrette and Janet S. (Joseph) Mautz both of Baldwinsville, NY, Kathleen E. (Patrick) Walsh of Marcellus, NY, sister-in-law, Mary Ellen McDonald of Syracuse, NY, 15 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Ronald (Hatice) McDonald of St. Augustine, FL, Robert McDonald of NC, two sisters, Arlene (Anthony) Endieveri of Baldwinsville, NY, Shirley (Lee) Clary of Watertown, NY, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 10:00 am in Christ the King Church, 21 Cherry Tree Circle, Liverpool, NY 13090. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Francis House or CNY Hospice.
