Obituary

Sharon Sue (Alvord) Ellis, 83, of Central Square, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2025 at St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center. Sharon was born in Manhattan, Kansas on December 28, 1941.  She has lived in Central Square for the past 21 years.  She was a graduate of A.V. Zogg Junior-Senior High School (Liverpool High School).  She later went on and joined the United States Air Force.

After her service with the Air Force she continued on as a Teletype Operator in Washington, DC.  There she had the privilege of meeting President John F. Kennedy. She moved to Florida in 1976 where she worked as a student Loan officer at Stetson University in DeLand, FL.  Returning to CNY to be closer to family she went to work at the Upstate University Hospital as a Student Loan Officer.  She was very proud of her work with the Egyptian Medical Student Program at Upstate.  Sharon volunteered at the Gleason House in the village of Liverpool. She loved camping, traveling to Arizona with her best friend Judy (AKA Thelma & Louise), gardening, listening to Tom Petty music, going to the beach and most of all spending time with her loving family.

She is predeceased by her husband, Sherwood Cridge, her parents, David Charles Alvord and Martha (Hill) Alvord, two sons, James Scott Cridge and John Emery Cridge and her brother, David Russell Alvord.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughter, Susan (David) May of Central Square, sister-in- law, Kathleen Alvord of Farmington, NY, son, Steve Cridge, grandchildren; Rachel (Nick) LaMountain of Averill Park, NY, Monica (Allister) Heydon and James May of Central Square, Kayla Cridge of Daytona Beach, FL, nephew, Troy Alvord of California. niece, Tara (Willo) Glynn of Farmington, NY and great-nieces and nephews, Chloe, Autumn, Emily and Parker.

Burial with military honors will be on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 10:00 am in Liverpool Village Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the home care staff at the VA and the 6th floor nurses for all the care they provided. Also, thanks to the Silver Fox Adult Day Care for helping Sharon have a more meaningful life and to the staff at St. Camillus for all their care and a special thanks to Kathy Libby for helping and being there for Sharon. Her family will always be grateful for that.
