Stephen Donaghy, age 60, of Liverpool, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday at home. Stephen was born on March 23,1965, in Glasgow, Scotland, to James Donaghy and Catherine (Allan) Donaghy. Stephen was a graduate of the Western Australia Police Academy (class intake March 1983). Stephen and his family emigrated to Australia when Stephen was a wee baby and stayed there until he left the police force after serving just under 10 years. After leaving the police Stephen moved to London, England where he worked at Ladbrokes. He stayed in England for a few years before moving to Cyprus, where he met his beloved wife and soul mate, Carol Donaghy, in 2013. They married in the summer of 2014 before moving to Liverpool, New York later that year, where they have happily lived the American dream ever since. Stephen proudly became an American Citizen in February 2023. Stephen retired from his job as Dog Control officer at the CNYSPCA on September 5, 2023.

Stephen, also known as Steve, Stevie D, Jock, Chook, Skippy and many more nicknames was the life and soul of everyone's day. He brought laughter and joy to everyone he met and formed many long-lasting relationships in every country he worked and lived. His love and caring nature were known world-wide.

Stephen was a huge sports fan and stayed dedicated to his Glasgow Soccer Team Celtic FC, watching every game he could. He loved music and you would often catch him at a wide range of music concerts but, he especially loved KISS. He got to go to their last ever 2 concerts at Madison Square Garden just a couple of years ago with a longtime friend, Gary Pearce, who shared his passion for their music.

Stephen is survived by his wife Carol (Robinson) Donaghy, his father, James Donaghy, two brothers in law and sisters-in-law, Dave (Jo) Wilson and Tony (Claire) Robinson. Also surviving are his beloved nieces and nephews, Jess, Rhianna, Morgan, Caitlin, Alfie and Bradley and many great nieces and nephews. He loved children despite never having his own and doted on them with so much love. He leaves behind a huge family of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends around the world, he touched so many lives.

You are all invited to the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corner, 3541 State Route 31, Baldwinsville on Sunday, December 7, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm to reminisce, grieve, support one another and just chat about the many wonderful memories we all have of Stephen. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm.
