Theresa R. (Khoury) Cardamone

Theresa (Khoury) Cardamone, 93 of Liverpool, NY, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday at Syracuse Home.

Born and raised in Utica, New York, Theresa was a proud graduate of Utica Free Academy, Class of 1951. From an early age, she demonstrated the determination, intelligence, and leadership that would characterize her throughout her life. Theresa was very active during her high school years, serving as editor of her senior yearbook and, upon graduation, being voted by her classmates “Most Likely to Succeed.”

It was also during her high school years that Theresa met the love of her life, Anthony Salvatore Cardamone. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and devotion to one another. They were blessed with three children: Regina (Thomas) McKearney; Debbie (John) Casey; and Tony Cardamone. Through their life together, Theresa and Anthony gave their children a lasting example of a loving and devoted marriage.

While raising her family, Theresa began working as a baker at Utica’s legendary Hemstrought’s Bakery. She later embarked on a career in healthcare, becoming a phlebotomist at St. Luke’s Hospital in Utica.

In 1976, Theresa, Anthony, and their family moved from Utica to Liverpool, New York, beginning a new chapter of their lives in the Syracuse area. Theresa continued her healthcare career as a Laboratory Technician with the American Red Cross.

Theresa became a widow at the young age of 51 when Anthony passed away unexpectedly in 1984. Faced with the loss of her husband and the responsibility of continuing the life they had built together, Theresa demonstrated the strength and independence that would define the next chapter of her life. She continued to work and provide for her family and, in the years that followed, took tremendous pride in the family home she and Anthony had shared.

As a mother, Theresa placed tremendous value on education and instilled in her children a life-long appreciation for learning and service to others. That influence became one of her lasting legacies. All three of her children went on to become college graduates and enjoy successful careers. Theresa’s influence extended into the next generation, as well. She was enormously proud of her grandchildren, who also became college graduates.

Upon retirement, Theresa devoted much of her time to what brought her the greatest happiness—her family. Her five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren were among the greatest joys of her later years, and she treasured every opportunity to spend time with them and watch her family grow. In her later years, Theresa resided at Parkrose Estates Senior Living.

Theresa’s life was defined by her devotion to family, her deep faith, her belief in education, her strength and independence, and the love she gave so freely to those around her. From the young woman voted “Most Likely to Succeed,” to the wife and mother who built a loving home, to the young widow who carried on with courage and determination, and finally to the grandmother and great-grandmother who found such joy in the generations that followed her, Theresa lived a full and meaningful life.

Perhaps her greatest legacy can be found in those generations, in the value they place on family and education, in their commitment to serving others, and in the strength and perseverance she modeled throughout her life. Theresa will be deeply missed, but the lessons she taught, the family she nurtured, and the love she gave will live on in all those who were fortunate enough to call her Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Aunt, and friend.

Theresa’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren include Daniel (Erica) McKearney and their children, Daxton and Elena; Brian (Lindsey) McKearney; Michael (Jennifer) Casey and their son, Patrick; Emily Casey; and Peter (Lyndsey) Casey and their daughter, McKenna. In addition to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Theresa is survived by her many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, who remained an important part of her life and her extended family.

Theresa was predeceased by her beloved husband, Anthony S. Cardamone; her parents, Anna (Lewis) Khoury and Peter Khoury; and her sisters and lifelong best friends, Katherine (George), Cecilia (Cardamone), and Lila (Moda). The bond Theresa shared with her sisters was a treasured part of her life.

Theresa was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Baldwinsville and a member of the Canton Woods Senior Center. She also appreciated life’s quieter moments, working on crossword puzzles, spending time with family, and finding peace in prayer. Her Catholic faith remained an important and comforting presence throughout her life, and she cherished the quiet time she spent saying her rosary.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Theresa’s life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 11:00 am in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 3494 State Route 31, Baldwinsville, New York. Theresa will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Anthony, at Calvary Cemetery in Utica, New York. Burial services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions in Theresa’s name be made to the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Food Pantry, 3494 NY Route 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
