September 20, 1930 – December 3, 2022
Thomas H. Hinds, 92, of Baldwinsville passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on December 3, 2022. A Syracuse native, he had lived in Baldwinsville since 1981.
Thomas served his country in the U.S. Navy during Korea. In 1956 he married the former Nancy Fadel. Tom then started a fulltime job with NY Telephone (now Verizon), while also attending and graduating from, Syracuse University. He would work for Verizon for 38 years, retiring in 1990 as a manager. Thomas was a faithful communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
Spending time with family and friends, he was known for his ability to tell a joke and make everyone laugh. He enjoyed trips with his family to Long Lake, Lake Ontario, Cape Cod, Europe and Hawaii, along with camping trips with his lifelong friends, Jack, Dick and Don.
Enjoying the outdoors, Tom loved all types of wildlife, especially feeding his birds. Throughout his life he had enjoyed many German Shepard's and cats as pets.
Thomas was a lifelong fan of S.U. basketball and football. His personal sport of choice was golf, with family considering him to be an avid golfer, especially while playing his favorite course at Green Lakes.
Tom will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 66 years, Nancy Hinds; beloved daughters, Debra (John) Gale of DeRuyter, NY and Diane (Tim) Webber of Liverpool, NY; sisters, Joyce (William) Slough of Dublin, OH and Lucille (Thomas) Miller of Boston, MA as well as several nieces.
All services are private. Entombment in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville, NY.
The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Fiacco and staff for their compassionate care they offered to Tom, along with the neighbors who took the time to help Tom in his later years.
