Walter J. Burt, Jr., 74, of Baldwinsville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, April 28, 2025.  Walt was born in Flushing, NY and then moved to Syracuse.  He was a graduate of Central Tech High School and then attended Syracuse University where he was enrolled in the R.O.T.C Program.  Upon graduation from Syracuse, he was commissioned a 2nd Lt. with the United States Army.  He then attended Airborne School and after completing that he was stationed in Germany where he met the love of his life the former Katherine Yungfert. Walt and Katherine married in July of 1977 and moved to Syracuse, NY shortly after.

Walt was then hired as a federal technician and served in the New York National Guard where he served until his retirement in 2007.

Walt was a huge fan of Syracuse University Athletics.  He loved reading, history, gardening, but above all more than anything he loved his wife, Katherine whom he was married to for 46 years.

He is predeceased by his loving wife, Katherine who died on May 16, 2024 and his parents, Walter & Charlotte Burt.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Carolyn (Nick) Kachiros, Charles (Claire) Burt, grandchildren; Kate, Alex, Lucia, Vincent, his sisters; Laurie Boyce, Dana (Tom) Marzynzki and Dale (John) Vigliotti, and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Rt 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.  A funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm at the funeral home followed by military honors.
