Truax, Sr.
August 14, 1930 – June 20, 2023
William D. Truax, Sr., 92, of North Syracuse, NY unexpectedly passed away peacefully on Tuesday, with his loved ones at his side. Born and raised in Syracuse, Bill graduated from Eastwood High School, Class of 1948. He started his career as a Tool & Die Maker at Smith Corona until enlisting in the U.S. Air Force, proudly serving his country during the Korean War. After being Honorably discharged, Bill returned to Smith Corona until its closing in 1960. He continued his employment at Chrysler-New Process Gear retiring in 1993. Bill loved the outdoors, especially spending his summers at camp fishing on Owasco Lake. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid bowler, achieving a perfect 300 game 5 times. He is predeceased by his wife Dorothy Truax on April 21, 2013.
Surviving is his companion of 10 years, Theresa E. Waite of North Syracuse, NY, his son, William D. (Lynda Truax Neuman) Truax of Glendale, CA, daughter, Elizabeth (Larry) Baker of Liverpool, NY, granddaughter, Magaena Truax, half-brother, David (Ann) Truax of Raileigh, NC, half-sister, Frances (Joe) Georgianna of Delray Beach, Fl, a loving father and grandfather figure to; Karen Podolak of Newport News, VA, Elaine (Russ) Seager of Westvale, NY, Doreen (Keith) Fox of Clay, NY, Russell (Chelsey) Seager, Jaclyn Horn (Ryan Knapp), Daniel (Scott) Horn, Rutledge Horn, several nieces and nephews and his fur buddies.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Rt 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027, with Funeral services at 11:00 am. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in William's memory can be made to Most Holy Rosary School, 1031 Bellevue Ave., Syracuse, NY 13207.
