Obituary

John D. Holohan, Sr., 85, loving and devoted husband of Florence, passed away Friday March 2nd.

He was a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Born in Cohoes, NY, he later resided in Liverpool, NY, where he was a parishioner of Christ The King Church. He was employed for 30 years with the Commerical Credit Corporation.

He served in the United States Navy as a Pharmacists Mate Second Class. John was attached to the United States Marine Corps 4th Division Lima Company during World War II. He was a highly decorated veteran including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star awarded for heroic achievement in action against the enemy on Saipan Island. John was a member of the Liverpool-Clay VFW Post #951, DAV Chapter 30 and MOPH 406. Upon returning from the war he received his BA from St. Michaels College in Vermont.

John is survived by his wife of 56 years the former Florence Coleman, children, John Holohan Jr. of Syracuse, Kate (Paul) Seymour of Liverpool, Peg (Dave) Condeni of Detroit, MI, Pete Holohan of San Diego, CA, Colleen (Mike) Rajkowski of Marcellus, Joe (Daisy) Holohan of Las Vegas, NV, siblings, Betty (John) Moriarty of Albany, Pat (Bill) O?Brien of Rochester, Peter (Elaine) Holohan of Syracuse, David (Peg) Holohan of Albany, 15 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be 5-8PM Monday at the Maurer Funeral Home 300 Second St., Liverpool. Funeral services will be 9:45AM Tuesday at the funeral home and 10:30AM in Christ The King Church with interment to follow with Military Honors in Our Lady Of Peace Cemetery, Clay.
